Wool Hand Duster

This hand duster has all the abilities of a sweater to attract dust and lint. Naturally occurring lanolin in the wool will hold dust and release it without sticking and clogging. After using, just give it a shake, and it’s ready for reuse.

The hand duster’s ten-inch fluff of premium quality wool is secured with velcro for easy removal and laundering. The hardwood handle, made from recycled poplar, has a hole on the end for hanging and easy storage.

The center of the mop head is a wire rod. To adjust the head angle, hold on to the top of the duster with one hand, place the other where the metal and wood handle meet, and bend head as desired. 

To clean wool head, remove by peeling the wool part from the frame and sliding it out of the pocket on the opposite side. Wash head with soap or wool wash and water and air dry.

The hardwood handle is lacquered, but you can apply furniture polish as necessary to further enhance its natural luster.

The Slack Dust Mop Company was started by Alexander P. Slack, who began in 1909 with a piece of copper wire that held cotton rags and was used as a wet mop. He ended up with a patent for his coiled wire mop holder, which he and his seven sons sold door to door. Today, his great grandson Thomas G. Slack III continues the fourth generation of the Slack Mop business in rural Vermont.

Each duster is made one at a time by hand with multi-colored yarn spun from remnants of wool carpet from South Carolina and Georgia. The hardwood handle comes from recycled poplar wood out of the northern US and is lacquered to enhance the wood’s shine and luster.
