A shoe designed to evolve local craft in spite of the encroaching new industries in the region, this wool house shoe also makes a pedicure or a foot rub seem second rate.

Made from the local soft hair of Patagonian sheep and tanned natural salmon skin, an up-cycled fabric made from what the fishing industry would otherwise throw away.  It's made for wearing with or without socks, in the house, offering a unique padding that encloses the foot and cushions it all over.

Sheep’s wool, aside from its water repellant properties and warmth, is one of the best natural insulators. Salmon leather is a textile made by tanning and repurposing salmon skin which becomes a durable and flexible material. Its natural scale pattern is reminiscent of exotic leathers, but is completely renewable.

Use & Care

The house shoes shouldn't require much care, but if you do want to wash them, make sure you do it rarely and by hand using a mild soap (never bleach, which will erode the wool) and lukewarm water that shouldn't get hotter than 80 degrees F (30C).

The shoes shouldn't be put in the dryer or hung up to dry, since this could cause deformation. Instead, dry them flat.

Production & Design

A network of Chilean artisans handmake each pair of house shoes, each communicating the same design spec and synchronizing their own production network to maintain quality control. Each pair of these shoes is geo-tagged with a QR code that leads to the geographical and production details of the individuals that hand-crafted each unique piece. The shoes are made in Frtillar, a small town in Region de Los Lagos, Puerto Varas, known as “the city of roses,” and Calcurrupe, a tiny town on the shores of Ranco Lake in Chile.
