Dovo Nail Scissors

DOVO has been in the personal hygiene and cutlery business since 1906, delivering high quality forged steel instruments to the world. Their nail scissors, introduced in the early 1970s, have specific characteristics that set them apart from the others. Precisely well-fitting parts and high carbon stainless steel make them far superior to other nail scissors on the market today.

Nail scissors offer much better leverage than nail clippers, employing more of your hand rather than just your fingertips. They are also heavier for his same reason. DOVO's cutting edge has tiny teeth or "gezahnt"  that help grip the nail, holding it firmly so that when pressure is applied there is less slippage, making for a more accurate cut. Each arm is also specially formed to fit more snugly into the other. The result is a cleaner cut. The matte finish of the handles also helps in getting a sturdy grip.

Most cheaply made scissors and nail clippers are made by the cold forge process. These inferior scissors are constructed of steel which has been cut to length and placed under high pressure without heating and held together using a single rivet. DOVO nail scissors are hot forged, a process that produces a more ductile metal, a homogenized grain that resists pressure better, and one that reduces chemical incongruities that would otherwise weaken the steel.

Simply hold the nail scissors firmly in your hand as you would a pair of regular scissors and gently trim the nail to the desired length. 

To clean, soap and water may be used, taking care of the sharp end and serrated edge. Dry with a towel. 

DOVO was established in 1906 in the city of Solingen, Germany, a city well-known for its steel blades and craftsmanship. The company, founded by Mr. Dorp and Mr. Voos, started out making straight razors; when the electric razor came into vogue, the company soon expanded their product line to include very high quality scissors in order to stay in business. DOVO was implemental in making Solingen a world-class manufacturing city by demanding very strict standards of their products.

All steel hot-forged scissors that bear the mark of the city of Solingen must adhere to the city's strict standards passed by  the law of 1938. This law requires that DOVO and companies like it must use metals and alloys from the area as well, ensuring only the highest quality raw materials.
