A Dopp kit is meant to be used, and needs to be durable. This one, made of the same beefy canvas used for sails and nautical gear, is meant for the savvy traveler who wants to arrive at his destination without worry that his suits have been bedizened with shampoo.

Hand-sewn by a former sail maker who began 20 years ago working for a sail loft, this Dopp kit is made of the same beefy canvas used to make Navy gear. It's just the kind of bag you want if you have a history of finding spilled aftershave, toothpaste and lotion awaiting your surprise in a freshly unpacked suitcase. Unlike other Dopp kits made of cotton or nylon, the waxed canvas is waterproofed to prevent staining, and moisture from spills should wick right off. The double stitching and thick, heavy materials are designed to endure frequent use, and over time, the surface of the bag develops a beautiful patina as it gets crunched and banged around.

Use & Care

Use this bag for travel, to store grooming supplies, travel shampoos and deodorant, razor and makeup, or other small items.

By its nature, waxed canvas is water repellent. It was developed for the sailing industry to create waterproof fabric for nautical equipment.

The only advice from the manufacturer is not to throw it in a washing machine. Apply a damp cloth to anything spilled on it. If you stain it with a liquid, the stain should wick right off.

Production & Design

Craig sources his materials locally and from within the U.S. whenever possible. His YKK zippers are sourced out of New York. His canvas comes from Fairfield Textiles in New Jersey. He focuses on materials that are simple and basic that will withstand the test of time.
