American-Made Poplar Wood Crates (3 sizes)
Poplar wood crates with golden oak stain. Assembled with full round head steel nails. Made by the Pennsylvania Amish. Comes in three sizes or as a nesting set. See all measurements below under Specifications. (
Our crates are put together with full round head steel nails, instead of the industrial staples typically used to build crates. They are handmade out of solid, air-dried poplar from trees cut in southeastern Pennsylvania. Fashioned in the style of apple crates from the area’s surrounding orchards, these sturdy containers do double-duty in your garden and home.
The small size holds just over 2 dry gallons of produce and can keep your kitchen items, such as glass bottles and jars, or toiletries.
The medium size holds just over 4 dry gallons of produce and has the ideal dimensions for storing standard-size magazines.
The large size holds just over 9 dry gallons of produce. It can be used to keep your pantry goods, such as onions and potatoes. Stack the wood crates to create compartment bookshelves, place them upturned by your bed or sofa as side tables, or use them to store small children’s toys.
Use & Care
Condition with oil if desired. Restain with Minwax Golden Oak if necessary.
Production & Design
This family woodworking business began in 1989 in Pennsylvania. Several years later, the owner discovered the traditional products of the local Amish, who eschew technology and modern conveniences in favor of a simpler, humble lifestyle. The company now sells their handmade wares as a means of introducing a broader public to these unique products.
