These limited edition small cutting boards are handmade from reclaimed wood crates originally used to transport aviation parts during WWII. (While most crates were constructed using softer, cheaper woods, white oak was chosen for its strength and durability.)
The boards can be used for cutting and chopping foods and as a durable serving plate or dish. They come in quite handy when making a sandwich or a small meal.
Native white oak is a long lasting, durable wood with a straight grain and medium-course texture. As the cellular structure of white oak prevents water from entering, it has been the wood of choice for wine and whiskey barrels for hundreds of years.
Clean the board with soap and hot water using a bristle brush. Air dry. To prevent the wood from warping, do not leave in a wet area or submerge in water for an extended amount of time. Do not put the board in a dishwasher.
To keep the board looking beautiful, rub the wood every once in a while with an edible wood oil or mineral oil. White oak is naturally light in color but will darken nicely over the years.
Handmade of reclaimed white oak in Los Angeles, CA. The wood comes from crates originally manufactured by the Howard Hughes company for supplying aviation parts to the US Air Force in WWII.
