A nice bike deserves a nice pump. It’s that simple. Don’t waste money on something that will break. This floor pump has a beech handle, aluminum shaft, a gauge that measures air pressure in PSI and bars, and a hose that can connect to a Schrader or a Presta valve (with an included chuck adapter).
When your tires need a air, affix the chuck to the valve and pump to your tire's recommended pressure (look close: it should say on the side). There is no screwing on or off of the chuck. Just press down until you no longer hear air being released. When you’ve created an air-tight seal, pump to your bike tubes’ allowable (or personally preferred) PSI.
To clean, wipe with a damp cloth. And if you find the pump needs a little lubrication, pull the pump all the way up and rub on some grease (just nothing that’s in a liquid state at room temperature).

The world of bike pumps would be a lot sadder today were it not for Silca, founded almost a hundred years ago by Felice Sacchi. When the company began, it quickly revolutionized the cycling world by slimming down pumps to accommodate higher air pressures and lighter bikes, and most importantly, added a pressure gauge – an innovation that’s become today’s standard. (And prevented a lot of over-filled tires and blow-outs.) The company is still in the Sacchi family today (the only family-fun biz in the industry), and is run by Felice’s grandson, Claudio.
The long, slender design of this pump, the “Super Pista,” allows you to fill your tires quickly, with minimal effort. It’s got a brass chuck, an easily-accessible leather piston seal, and the handle features a hose clip for neat storage. Replacement parts are readily available from Silca.
