Widu’s wooden bristles untangle and gently nourish the hair without breaking, leaving a manageable mane that won’t triple in volume, forming a mushroom cloud of hair around the head. Unlike bare wiry bristles that rip through knots with a sound not unlike opening Velcro or tearing paper, Widu wooden bristles are designed to work their way through knots and delicate strands with the least amount of force.
For those with long hair, the mess of curls stuffed into a voluminous bun plopped on top of one’s head is an exhausting situation rather not dealt with after a long day. Paddle brushes are good for those who want to smooth out and straighten the kinks and curls of their hair. Using a blowdryer won’t make the brush hot, since the wood doesn’t carry heat.
The Widu paddle brush comes in two sizes: small and large. Pick a size depending on how much hair you have and how long it is.
The sustainable wood is Forest Stewardship Council-certified and the bristles and brushes are made by hand in Italy. The wood bases are finished naturally with purified linseed oil and beeswax, getting into the wood’s pores and keeping it beautiful.
Note that the tiny hole in the rubber at the base of the brush bed isn’t a missing bristle, but a little ventilating hole to let air get in and out of the space under the pneumatic pocket.
To clean, rinse with soap and water and wipe off with a clean towel. Don’t soak the Widu brush in water as this could warp the wood. Leaving it in the shower probably isn't a great idea either.
The paddle brush comes with 5 extra wooden bristles, should a really bad
knot snap one in half. Just pull out the broken one with some pliers and wiggle
in a new little guy.
Use with a blow dryer if you want — the brush won’t get hot.
Widu means wood in Old English. A hairstylist in Milan invented the product to soothe the scalps and untangle the hairsprayed, blowdried, overworked and broken ends of the hair he worked with every day. The wood used in the bristles is hornbeam, a variety of birch wood found in Europe. It’s the same wood used in the pegs holding together giant windmills — proving to be trusted in strenth. It would take a knot of epic proportions to cause one of the bristles to snap.
