Hand-crafted by artisan and furniture and staircase maker Vincent Skidmore, this beeswax–based product is an effective method for building a beautiful finish on raw wood. It can also be used for cleaning, restoring and recapturing the former glory of an antique piece.
This product leaves a polished finish and seal on untreated wood. It will protect and build a soft and warm glowing finish, bringing out the grain of the wood.
It can be used for indoor and outdoor use, on wooden hot tubs and decks. It can also help to remove white rings and water stains.
Skidmore’s started in 1987 and is based in Laramie, Wyoming. Vincent’s background in woodworking originated in his parent's antique business. They went on buying trips all over the country, bringing furniture back to California to repair and refinish before putting it in their shop. Vincent was involved in all aspects and learned his initial woodworking skills at that time.
Simply shake the can and brush or sponge onto the wood. You can use Skidmore on all types of wood – hard, soft, new or old.
It functions as both a restorative and cleaning polish. For wood that is particularly scratched or aged, you may want to use ‘0000’ steel wool or a polypad and rub Skidmore’s gently into the wood, always working with the grain. Let the piece sit to allow Skidmore's Wood Finish to penetrate. Wipe out and buff to bring out the shine. The more buffing the more polished the finish.
Clean up with mineral spirits or citrus cleaner. Use in a well-ventilated area and keep away from the kids.
This polish is created from turpentine, linseed oil, and beeswax from a beekeeper in Riverton, Wyoming. The product comes in a tin can.
