When this pencil is sharpened to a fine point, it is perfect for detail work done at later stages of a drawing.
For getting details in your drawing sharpen to a fine point. A sharp point must be maintained throughout to keep fine detail. Use a very light touch when using a pencil like this one. To get darker colors repeat many layers instead of pressing harder. Do not press too hard or you will break the pencil point into little pieces. A heavier hand may be used but fine drawings are possible with a light touch. The edge of the pencil may be used to get broader strokes. Blending and smudging of the charcoal is possible and is highly recommended. Soft charcoal pencils give you a broader darker stroke while harder charcoal pencils give you more of a fine, thin stroke. This pencil falls right into the middle. Use a kneaded eraser to remove charcoal or add textures.
