With the smooth surface of this particularly large graphite stick, a world of artistic expression can be realized. The extra large width is ideal for sweeping across large surfaces, to sketch and color, but the pointed bottom corners also serve as a writing tool.

Produced by one of the oldest pencil manufacturers in Europe, this wide graphite stick sets new boundaries for creativity with a wide range of uses and a large rod for direct drawing on a large scale.

Use & Care

Use for drawing large illustrations, portraits, still lifes and landscapes. The broad sides can capture shadows and planes easily for a gesture drawing. Use for shading and laying out a composition, a flat shape or a sketch.

Production & Design

The only pencil manufacturer in Portugal makes these graphite sticks, with quite a challenging history behind it. The company started out a hundred years ago, when a group of French industrialists decided to construct a pencil manufacturing plant, an idea which was put to rest after three short years because of the country's involvement with World War I and its subsequent bankruptcy. In the 20s, the company was reactivated again but once again stymied by the Great Depression. Finally, in 1936, the company was bought by a prominent industrial business owner and it became a family business, run by one of his sons.

Right away, efforts were made to improve the quality of the pencils and diversify the product selection to include colored pencils and a range of other supplies for the art industry. 80 years later, the business is the only successful pencil manufacturer in all of Europe.
