Also known as a cultivator, use this to turn soil, banish weeds, and incorporate compost into the top layer of a garden. It is especially useful when more leverage is desired than provided by a basic, American-style hand cultivator. This tool's long handle allows the use of the whole arm to dig, providing better results with less wrist fatigue. It's straight tines go deep into the ground, which is especially useful if you’ve got rocky, New England soil. But they'll work with all soils, of course -- this hand weeding tool doesn't discriminate (unless you're a weed).

Springtime is around the corner. Cucumbers, squash, and tomatoes await. Give your garden the once-over with this weeding tool, then plant seedlings, give them a bit of water, and observe nature's magic.

Use & Care

To cultivate soil, grasp handle firmly, keep wrist straight, and strike the ground using your entire arm. Repeat! Turn up new earth and mix in nutrient-rich soil from your compost pile. Plant seedlings and enjoy nature's bounty.

To keep the tool in optimum condition, wipe off any excess dirt after use, and dry off before locking storing. At the end of gardening season, rub a coat of oil on the steel to keep rust away. Sharpen tines with a whetstone.

Production & Design

Kusakichi tools are made in the workshop of Yoshida Hamano in the Kyusyu area of Japan. Hamano oversees the entire tool-making process from selection of materials right up to shipping the final product. Tough stuff from the land of the rising sun.
