Leather is a tough material, but over time continued exposure to water and general wear will draw out the oils from within it, leaving it dry and stiff, and additional wear in this state causes the brittle fibers to break down prematurely. Leather needs to be cared for to maintain its appearance and suppleness and to extend its life; it needs regular conditioning to replenish moisture and to lubricate its fibers.
This leather conditioner is made of pine tar and beeswax and happens to have a pleasant natural pine forest-and campfire fragrance. With regular use, it waterproofs and preserves leather, defending against mildew and deterioration while retaining breathability. It protects from the drying effects caused by work-place fuels, chemicals, and mild acids and contains neither animal fats, which can turn rancid, nor solvents, which can damage leather. Thick consistency allows for easy application.
If you prefer a thinner, liquid consistency, try the oil version.
Apply to new leather to keep soft and pliable, and use to rejuvenate old, dried-out leather. Before treating, thoroughly clean leather, allow to dry completely, and warm to room temperature. Rub grease into the leather with hands or a soft cloth. Carefully grease the seam where the soles join the uppers as well as all stitching. Allow to penetrate the leather and then apply another coat. Apply as needed to maintain waterproofing and conditioning of leather. Extremely arid or wet conditions will require more frequent applications than more temperate ones.
May darken certain leathers. Not recommended for use on suede.
