Kaufmann Mercantile is an online store for carefully selected, long-lasting, and well-designed every-day goods. We also write and commission a library of essays on the history of materials, various how-to’s, and Q&A’s with artists and designers.
We launch new products and posts every week.

KAUFMANN MERCANTILE STORE
We like to say products are meant to outlast you. And while we mean that slightly tongue in cheek, we’re also kind of serious. Kaufmann Mercantile strives to source the finest examples of products that are manufactured with equal importance given to functionality, durability, and aesthetics. Materials should be chosen for long-lasting use. Design should marry both function and beauty. Many of our products are handmade, and we never sell cheaply made, mass-produced versions. We encourage still-functioning heirlooms, not fodder for landfills.
We put a lot of thought and research into everything we sell. Please contact us if you have any questions or comments.
We offer free shipping on all orders $25 or more. We accept returns on all unused products within 90 days. Return shipping within the U.S. is always free. You can read more at our FAQ page.
KAUFMANN MERCANTILE REFERENCES
References is an expanding library of original articles about history, production, design, and materials, explored through short essays, how-to’s, and interviews. The ideas, objects, and people we profile are those we look to for inspiration and knowledge. We refer to them. And by cataloging their existence, we hope to create a working library for others to refer to as well.
WHO WE ARE
Our offices are in Brooklyn, New York, and our products ship from our warehouse in Durham, North Carolina.
