There’s nothing that communicates masculinity quite like a good-looking beard. Beards are typically pretty low maintenance to begin with, but can be tricky because of how easily the constant soap and water routine dries them out, and how sensitive the skin underneath can be.

Beard oils are emollient enough to moisturize the skin under the beard as well as the beard itself, and unlike lotion, won’t leave a weird residue or flakes of dried lotion sticking in the hair. Beard oils penetrate the hair shaft and tame the follicle while making your beard more relaxed. They also make the beard softer and shinier.

The particular ingredients in this oil smell like a walk through a pine forest and into a wood workshop. Jojoba oil, the main ingredient, is a liquid wax that helps to style and shape beard hair as well as moisturize it. The other pure stuff is nourishing but also exactly what a man wants to put on his face – nothing flowery and dainty about a beard oil inspired by John Burroughs, who labored long days in his family farm and was known to keep a salt and pepper beard as long as an elk antler.

Use & Care

Depending on the length and body of your beard, shake 4 to 6 drops into your palm, and gently massage into your beard and the skin underneath.
