The Dopp kit has long been an essential for army regiments, and the Chestnut Leather bag is inspired by the toughest of troops: The Ghurkas. The Ghurkas served in the British and Indian armies, and the regiments have distinguished reputations of bravery, loyalty and durability. "If a man says he is not afraid of dying, he is either lying or is a Gurkha,” Field Marshall Sam Manekshaw once said. But even the bravest need the right materials by their side.

The Chestnut Leather bag can hold its ground on any train, plane, or automobile. The roomy wide opening design guarantees toiletries of all sizes can fit comfortably in the bag. No worries about razors slicing band-aids, or shaving cream carrying that faint whiff of deodorant.

Unlike cotton or nylon Dopp kits, the Chestnut Leather material is sturdy enough for both leisure and business. You may not be a soldier trekking across boundaries and battlegrounds, but you are a traveler nonetheless. And the traveler, whatever their nature and destination, should have the bare necessities, and the best accessories.

Use & Care

Use the Dopp Kit to store regular sized (or many travel sized) shampoos and soaps, razors and creams, deodorants and makeup, and other toiletries.

For surface dirt, wipe clean with a damp cloth.

For minor scuffs, use leather formula as a cleaner and conditioner. Apply small amount to dry cloth, and gently spread evenly into leather. When dry, gently buff leather with clean, dry cloth.

Production & Design

The Ghurka story began at an antiquities auction in the early 1970s. The company's founder, Marley Hodgson, bid on leather campaign gear used by a Ghurka soldier in the 1900s. Impressed by the durability and craft of the leather gear, Hosgson soon made his own Ghurka bag. Years later, the principles of rugged elegance remain in Ghurka's leather bags and accessories.

Ghurka is headquartered in New York City, and each leather bag and accessory is handmade.
