Handmade Canvas & Leather Carryall Bag

With the help from a 240 year old leather company, we designed this exclusive bag that can be used as an everyday carrier or a piece of light luggage. It's uniquely made by KM, so in the search for a great bag, you won't find it anywhere else.

When we set out to design this bag, we identified the dimensions first, solely for function - we wanted to make sure it was a bag we ourselves would actually use. We made sure it fit a laptop, lunch, a half dozen magazines, a notebook, pens, and of course a wallet, lighter and phone, with room for a few more extras.

The size we chose happened to provide a unique aesthetic as well, one that transferred seamlessly from a professional environment to a casual one. The tall, rather than wide, bag also becomes a messenger, fitting comfortably over your shoulder by way of a detachable leather strap. The leather bottom and aluminum frame at the top let the bag retain its rectangular shape, so it won't adopt that "stuffed" look the way a backpack can as you fill it up with your things.

For durability, we hand-selected a tough tan canvas and latigo, a cattle hide leather that's been tanned with a combination of alum and gambier, which made for stiff and sturdy straps with excellent tensile strength and resistance to outside abrasions. It's the kind of bag that looks smart, and will hold all your things without making you feel weighed down. 

The surface of the leather, in its natural state, will age and change over time. This is one of the best things about it. To show love and care for this natural process, you can, from time to time, rub a bit of oil conditioner over the surface to restore natural color and luster. 

If the canvas becomes at all dirty, it should be spot-treated using soap and water. For light dirt, use a mild soap and only dab at the canvas with a lightly soapy cloth. Then use a clean damp cloth to lift the soap off. Don't rub or scrub the fabric.

Kaufmann Mercantile collaborated with a leather company with over 240 years of experience producing and manufacturing leather products to create this bag. All leather is premium top grade, strong, supple, soft and vegetable tanned. All hardware is nickel plated and rust-resistant. Rivets are starred and rolled for additional strength, cut from state of the art die cutters. Every aspect of the bag was uniquely hand-chosen for the optimum result in functionality, aesthetic and durability. Our first exclusively designed luggage.
