When sipping from this copper cup, your drink is literally steeped in history. Made of 100% pure solid copper, the cup was originally created in 1819 by this American copperwares manufacturer.
Pure copper takes on the temperature of whatever it touches, which means that your iced beverage will stay cold longer. Because copper is sensitive to acids, the tin lining ensures that you can drink any beverage from this cup. So, kick back, relax, and drink up. Cheers!
Copper is a metal that will not rust, as long as it is not exposed to acids. Over time and with regular use, the copper cup will change in color and surface texture. This is not damage, but simply the copper molecules settling in and getting comfortable. This naturally occurring patina will develop over time to create a one-of-a-kind finish. If you prefer restore the original copper sheen, you can polish up the cup with a soft cloth and cleaning solution. Read more about how to do this here.
Acid corrodes copper, therefore, the inside is hot-tinned so that you may enjoy any beverage of your choosing. If you want to clean the inside of your tin-lined copper cup, rinse with warm water and mild soap, then dry thoroughly.
Each cup is individually made, so imperfections are expected and contribute to the uniqueness of your handmade vessel.
The Jacob Bromwell company is careful to adhere to the same standards of materials and fabrication set almost 200 years ago at its founding. About 5 copper craftsman are involved in the making of each cup. The process begins with the shearing of copper sheets to size. The copper sheets are then blanked, or cut, by hand into three individual parts, the body, the bottom and the handle. The pieces are hot-tinned on the interior to follow FDA standards, and so that you can drink any beverage without worry of corrosion and damage to your cup. The blanked copper pieces are then hand-lathed to form the body of the cup, after which the handle is soldered on. Every step of the process is carefully achieved by hand, just as it was done by Jacob Bromwell himself back in 1819.
