This mat is handmade by a family business that was looking for a way to pass along and imprint the traditional craftsmanship of the New England timber industry into a product that inspired and influenced community and gathering.

The fitted slats, cut in a V-shaped chevron design - perfect for stomping on and letting media fall through - are turned from sustainably harvested eastern white pine, a common wood chosen for its strength. The pieces have been cut precisely for design and function, then are nailed together with over one hundred galvanized steel nails to produce an item that's not only made for wear, but looks beautiful.

Use & Care

Ideal for entryways, saunas, hot tubs, decks and showers. Stomp your feet to remove debris, then easily move the mat and sweep away media with a broom. No shaking, beating or washing necessary to remove dust, dirt and gravel.

Production & Design

Particular functional features of the slats (width, spacing, orientation, and location) are essential to optimize the effectiveness of a wooden doormat. The slats are 3/4" wide with 3/4" spacing, oriented at a 45 degree angle (like the teeth on a hand file) and located above the surface on which the doormat sets. These features best enable dirt, sand, mud, pebbles, water and snow to be effectively scraped off of shoes and boots and pass down through the slats.

The manufacturer has been making these doormats for 26 years, using only sustainably harvested eastern pine wood, a long-lasting resinous wood. All nails - 100 of which are used in each mat - are made of galvanized steel for superior strength.
