Morris Kitchen Ginger Syrup
Thick, spicy ginger syrup made in small batches in Brooklyn, New York. The syrup can be used to make cocktails, a bracing cup of ginger tea, or to add richness to savory dishes. (
Based in Brooklyn, Tyler and Kari Morris source fresh, quality ingredients, and turn them into simple, delicious base materials for recipes you haven’t even imagined yet. This ginger syrup has a nice, sharp bite and is made with just fresh ginger and sugar.
Rest assured, you’ll burn through your first bottle pretty quickly as you conjure up more and more applications for the syrup’s sweet hum. It’s pretty hard to dismiss nostalgia for a glass of flat ginger ale, lovingly brought to you as a sick child by a sympathetic mother – but this stuff will ensure you never go back to bottled ginger ale.
Pour a sparkling glass of soda water and drop a tablespoon in to settle an upset stomach. Throw a dash into stir fry. Make a Dark and Stormy. Stir up a hot, bracing cup of ginger tea. Take this bottle from sweet to savory. Other tasty recipes suggested by the makers include ginger-roasted butternut squash, carrot ginger salad, tamari ginger glazed salmon, ginger lemon curd, ginger snap cocktail and Pimm’s and ginger cocktail.
Use & Care
The syrup is shelf stable, so after opening, the bottle will sit happily in the fridge for 12 months. It can be whipped out for drinks, salad dressings, marinades or as a meat glaze, turning any roasting pan into a glistening feast.
For citrus and spice, and everything nice (by that, we mean alcohol), here's a cocktail recipe from Morris Kitchen:
Pimm's & Ginger Syrup Cocktail
2 oz Pimm's
1 oz Morris Kitchen Ginger Syrup
½ oz lemon juice
Add lemon, Ginger Syrup and Pimm's to tall glass with ice. Top with seltzer and stir. Serve with a straw and orange slice.
Production & Design
Each bottle comes with a hand-stamped label with the date of production, and the bottles are shaped for easy pouring. Both Morris siblings have a background in cooking, with sixteen years working in restaurants between them. Ingredients are sourced from local farmers and put together in the Morris Kitchen. Kari's pedigree in healthy, sustainable eating is strong, having taught city kids the value of nutrition and local produce, as well as organizing art fairs across New York. The hands that made this are safe, experienced and trustworthy.
