Reusable food wrap made of organic cotton muslin, beeswax, jojoba oil and tree resin. Waxed finished creates a seal to keep food fresh. Available in small (7”x 8”), medium (10 x 11”), large (13” x 14”) or a set including all 3 sizes. (
This reusable food wrap is made of organic cotton muslin that has been coated with natural beeswax, jojoba oil and tree resin. The wrap has a waxy, malleable consistency, which, combined with the intrinsically anti-bacterial qualities of beeswax, helps to keep food fresh. Advance beyond aluminum foil and past plastic wrap, and use the waxed food wrap for baked goods, a bunch of vegetables, or a hunk of cheese. Pack up your picnic with the beeswaxed food wraps. Mold the wraps right over a bowl of soup or plate of pasta to store leftovers.
Use & Care
Mold and warm the beeswaxed food wrap with the natural body heat of your hands and wrap up a sandwich or place over a bowl or plate of food. The wax will cool and stiffen within seconds to hold its shape and create a seal.
Place a hunk of bread or cheese in the center and wrap it up just as you would with wax paper. Grab a handful of almonds or cherries and create a to-go pouch by pinching the corners of the wrap together. Instead of plastic wrap or aluminum foil, mold the food wrap over the rim of a bowl or plate to store leftovers or transport a potluck offering.
Do not subject beeswaxed food wrap to heat. Hand-wash with mild soap and cool water. Air dry completely before folding and storing. Because the food wrap cannot be sterilized or heat treated, do not use it to store meat.
Production & Design
Sarah Kaeck and her family grow and produce much of what they eat on their Vermont farm. Wary of the health and environmental pitfalls of plastic wraps and containers, she sought a safe, efficient alternative for food storage. One day, the idea struck her to coat fabric with beeswax, and lo and behold, her invention would transform not only her home kitchen but those of the wider community as well. She now makes her beeswaxed food wraps with the help of other women in the local neighborhood, and they are sold by vendors across the country.
